4 games; 3 wins and a 2nd place!

With 4 games on the last week of friendlies, Saturday saw us secure 3 good wins as we continued our positive start to the season.

The 1st XI continued their impressive start with a 9 wicket win over Old Southendians and Southchurch in the Dukes Essex League Cup. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but were bowled out for 178. Skipper Bill led the way with 3 wickets, whilst there were braces for Adeel, George and Wogan.

In reply, ex-Canning Town resident Muz and ex-kitman Ron made light work of the chase with some dismissive hitting. With the 50 stand up in the 6th over and the 100 in the 10th, the result was never in doubt. Ronald smashed 16 boundaries in his 79 off 52 balls, whilst CTM hit a run-a-ball 64 to see us through to the quarter finals where we will make the short trip to Harold Wood.

In the reverse fixture at Garons Park, it was a good day for the Barnacle brothers as the 2nd team won by 183 runs. George B smashed an unbeaten century and the returning Sam Brooks smashed an unbeaten 41 off 28 balls as we racked up 299-5 off our allocated overs. Not to be undone by his older sibling, Freddie B produced a devastating spell of bowling to record figures of 6-16. Fellow youngster Dylan Mansell took 2-28, whilst elder statesman, Frankie J burgled 2 wickets in 5 balls to wrap up the victory.

Our 3rd XI welcomed Gidea Park & Romford CC to Cromer Road and a good team performance saw us record a 118 run victory. Azian Zafar smashed an unbeaten 120, whilst some late order hoicking by skipper Hagrid, saw us post 242-7 off our 40 overs. In reply, 3 wickets a-piece for Nauman, Dan Stevens and Biffo meant we were always in control and young Tommy Barnacle rounded off a good day for the Barnie family with the final wicket as Gidea Park were bowled out for 124.

Our 4th XI made the trip to Harlow but were unable to make it 4 wins from 4 as we fell to a 95 run defeat. 3 wickets for skipper Barry Bones and Ferret saw us limit the home side to 156-6 but we were unable to put any meaningful partnerships together as we were bundled out for 61.

Next week sees the start of our league campaign and hopes are high for a successful season.
