1s open their account; 2nd XI lose despite Lord and his Jester; 3rd XI win after Azian goes big; 4th XI lose heavily; 5th XI undone by a big stand

The 1st XI won their first league game of the season with a 115 run victory over Hutton. After winning the toss and electing to bat, we were bowled out for 248 with skipper Billy top scoring with 52. He was ably assisted by JP (49), Chelsea George (42) and Adeel (30). In reply, we took regular wickets with George and Wogan taking 3 each before big JP finished things off with 2 wickets in 3 balls as we sealed our first 20 points of the season.

The 2nd XI went down to Woodford Wells as the home side won by 5 wickets. Lord Luke top scored with 63 whilst Palmer somehow made his way to 50. This was made even more remarkable after he had given Frankie out with the WORST ever lbw decision in the entire history of the game. George Barnie also contributed with the bat as his 43 helped us post 233/9 off our 45. Pierre took 3 wickets in reply and birthday boy Dylan took 2 but Wells reached their target with 4 overs to spare.

The 3rd XI made it 3 wins from 3 with a memorable 94 run win over Wanstead & Snaresbrook. Azian hit an unbeaten double hundred as we piled up 294/4 after winning the toss. He becomes just the 4 player to reach 200 for the club after Sean Perry, Billy G and CTM. It was a remarkable innings off 154 balls and contained 32 x 4s and 5x 6s. Azian was ably supported by Gary Barnacle (39) as the pair put on 200 for the 3rd wicket; which is a new club record. In reply, Dan Stevens took 2 wickets but the star of the show was young Tommy Barnacle. His first 13 balls went for 22 runs but his next 9 saw him take 5 wickets, including a hat trick which saw his dad take 2 of the catches. It was a remarkable feat for the youngster in what was a remarkable game.

The 4th XI suffered another heavy defeat as they lost to Gidea Park by 191 runs. After being inserted, Park set us a target of 275 after Elahi (124) and Mistry (63) piled on the runs. Our reply got off to the worst possible start as Parmananad ripped through our top order and we never recovered as we were bowled out for 83. Young Adam Ferris top scored with an unbeaten 23 whilst fellow youth player James Martin and our good old friend extras, were the only ones to reach double figures.

Our 5th team went down to Orsett & Thurrock by 7 wickets. Batting first, we were bowled out for 178. Bhav top scored with 94 and despite others getting starts, no one could kick on, so our score was 30/40 runs short. We took early wickets through Mian and Mo, to leave the visitors in a spot of bother at 32/3. However, a brilliant unbeaten stand of 147 from Hills (70) and Hyde (60) saw us suffer our first defeat of the campaign.
