1s progress. 2s win

The 1st XI booked their place in the 2nd round of the Dukes Essex League Cup with a comprehensive 7 wicket win over Fives & Heronians.

The away side won the toss and elected to bat and were bowled out for 212 off the penultimate ball of their innings. The wickets were shared around with George and Yas taking their first wickets for the club. Ronnie chipped in with a brace of his own with his right arm car parks.

In reply, Canning Town Muz and Ronnie got us off to a flyer before George smashed 39 off 22 balls. Ronnie continued score at more than a run-a-ball and went to his century as victory was secured with nearly 25 overs to spare.

A good all-round performance sees us through where we will host Old Southendian & Southchurch next Saturday.

In the reverse fixture, the 2nd XI cruised to a 9 wicket win. The home side were bowled out for 177 with all 7 bowlers taking a wicket including 2 for the returning Jack Filtness. Led by captain Lord Luke’s unbeaten 115, we made light of the chase and won by 9 wickets.
