Dropped catches proved costly for the 1st XI as they slipped to a two-wicket defeat at Hutton, despite posting a competitive 246. Four chances went down as the hosts reached their target with 10 balls remaining.
Hanko top-scored with 80, while Sam H’s brisk 42 from 40 balls and Gav’s late 20 from just 10 deliveries added valuable momentum. However, we were likely 20–30 runs short at the halfway stage.
Harry’s superb opening spell reduced Hutton to 39-3, but their middle order rebuilt well to keep the chase alive. Les claimed three wickets, including two that left the hosts wobbling at 198-7, but a crucial eighth-wicket stand of 32 swung the game back in Hutton’s favour. Another wicket from Les set up a tense finish, though the home side held their nerve to edge over the line.
The 2nd XI made it back-to-back victories with an emphatic 130-run win over Shenfield.
Tommy B starred with a magnificent unbeaten 109 as we piled up 291/6. Kieran (33), Frankie (33) and Ozzy (30*) all contributed strongly in support.
Freddie B struck early on his way to 3-37 before Billy W ripped through the middle order with four wickets in six balls to leave Shenfield reeling. Some late hitting pushed the visitors to 161, but Connor H wrapped things up with 2-14 to complete a dominant win.
The 3rd XI endured a tough afternoon at Wanstead, falling to a heavy 196-run defeat.
An early breakthrough proved the only highlight as Wanstead powered to 276/4. Davies (97) and Syed (88) laid the foundations before Bentley smashed 43 from 22 balls late on. Shehzad’s 2-63 brought the best return among the bowlers, while Aman impressed with an economical spell of 0-19 from his nine overs.
In reply, we were immediately under pressure at 42-5 after Marafani’s opening burst of 3-22. Patel then claimed 3-14 as we were dismissed for 80. Nav top-scored with 15, while Luke’s 14 was the only other score in double figures.
The 4th XI were beaten by 42 runs at home to Upminster after falling short in the chase.
Connor (2-31), Krish (2-38) and Rikhil (2-44) helped reduce the visitors to 140-6, but important late contributions from Narbheram and Cargill lifted Upminster to 217/9 from their 40 overs.
In reply, four of the top five reached double figures, but none could go on as we slipped to 92-6. A 58-run stand between Krish (38) and Charlie L (25) revived hopes briefly, before evergreen Kevin Roome removed both in quick succession and cleaned up the tail to seal victory for the visitors.
The 5th XI fell to a four-wicket defeat at Walthamstow despite a sensational assault from Burdy.
Polash and Lance gave us a solid start with an opening partnership of 47, but we slipped to 94-5 with 12 overs remaining. Burdy then turned the innings around, adding 61 with Aaryan and 36 with Ollie on his way to a stunning 74* from just 35 balls. His innings included seven fours and six sixes, with his fifty coming from only 25 deliveries as we closed on 207/8 and secured maximum batting points.
Early wickets from Aaryan and Devon gave us a strong start with the ball, while Ezaan’s two wickets kept the pressure on. Tommy also struck twice, but Saedi’s unbeaten 86 and Abbasi’s 40 guided Walthamstow home. As with the 1st XI, missed chances in the field ultimately proved costly.
